Associate Professorship in Social Science Research Methods in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies and the School of Geography and the Environment in association with Green Templeton College

Grade 36S: from £45,066 per annum

 We are seeking to appoint a permanent Associate Professor in Social Science Research Methods, to be held in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS) and School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE), in association with a Non-Tutorial Fellowship at Green Templeton College under arrangements described in the further particulars.

You will be expected to provide teaching and supervision for the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies and School of Geography and the Environment at graduate and post graduate level and to engage in advanced study and research. You should refer to the further particulars for full details of the teaching requirements for this post.

You will have demonstrated strengths in using mixed and quantitative research methods and a commitment to teaching research methods and to helping undergraduate and postgraduate students develop the methods appropriate for their research, and have research and teaching interests in Area Studies and/or Geography. You should be familiar with and committed to Area Studies as an intellectual enterprise. The two Schools embrace interdisciplinary approaches to scholarship and the selection committee would particularly welcome applicants with specialisms in one or more of a wide range of disciplinary or interdisciplinary fields.

You should have received a doctorate in a social science field with reference to one or more regions of the world, by 1st September 2016 or at least have submitted a completed doctoral dissertation for examination by that date. You will demonstrate: research achievement appropriate to the stage of your career; the skills and commitment to contribute effectively to teaching, supervision and academic administration in the Schools; the ability to relate well to students; and good communication, interpersonal, time management and organisational skills.
