What is the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC)?
The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) is composed of two students representing students on the MSc programme, one student from the MPhil programme and one student from the community of graduate students doing doctoral work on Japan.
When does it meet?
It meets once per term on Fridays of week 5 or immediately prior to a Course Committee meeting usually between 13.00-14.00.
Who attends?
Meetings are open to all students belong to the Nissan Institute, not only the student representatives. The Director of Graduate Studies, the Director of the Nissan Institute and at least one other member of staff plus a Japanese language instructor.
What topics are discussed?
Potential topics might include library services, dissertation supervision, contents of lectures and seminars. In short any matters that are of concern to the student body.
What is its function?
It functions as an open forum but where resolutions are tabled they may be forwarded to the appropriate body, for example the MSc/MPhil Course Committee, the Nissan Institute Management Committee or the appropriate committee within SIAS.
When do we have to elect a representative by?
Students will need to select their representatives for this committee and let the Director of Graduate Studies know by the end of Week 2 of Michaelmas term, Friday 21st October.
A free sandwich lunch is provided for all who attend these meetings.
