Online Registration
You need to register once a year, at the anniversary of the term in which you started your current course (programme of study).
Academic and Assessment Information
You can view your academic details, including assessments for which you have been entered and any examination special arrangements. Your Candidate Number appears below your surname on the Academic & Assessment Information page.
How to check your Examination Entries:
Your core (compulsory) assessment items are automatically confirmed when you register online at the anniversary of starting your course. You can view these on this page. You will discuss your optional assessment items with your tutor and complete a paper examination entry form indicating your choices. These assessment items will be added to Student Self Service for you to view. If there are any discrepancies please contact the Student Information and Advisory Service.
Examination Special Arrangements:
Special examination arrangements should be requested at the time of entering for examinations but may, for urgent reasons, also be considered nearer to the date of your examinations. In each case your application needs to be forwarded through your college Senior Tutor for consideration by the Proctors.
Discussing your needs:
Discussing your needs in advance of starting your study will mean that support systems may be established before you begin your course. If you don’t tell us before the start of your course support may be delayed for you as things like note takers, sign language interpreters etc take time to arrange. The Disability Office can help by liaising with your college and department to organise your support needs. A discussion with your college would look at all areas of University life, including lectures, tutorials, examinations and college accommodation. Disabled students are advised to discuss their needs before starting a course of study, but you can discuss any aspect of your needs at any time during your University career.
The Disability Office can only advise students on applications for examination concessions, which are organised via your college. You should discuss your needs with your Tutor. Your college will then make a recommendation to the Proctors’ Office. If you are a student with dyslexia or dyspraxia then your college will forward a ‘summary sheet’ from one of the University’s educational psychologists to the Proctors Office outlining any suitable arrangements. For disabilities other than dyslexia and dyspraxia, your college will write to the Proctors’ Office on your behalf requesting permission for suitable arrangements. It is the Proctors who make the decision on whether to allow the concessions requested. Examination provision may range from extra time for dyslexic students, or those with physical disabilities/illnesses that make writing difficult, to enlarged font papers for those with a visual impairment, to a request for individual instructions for those with a hearing impairment. It is up to the individual student to initiate discussions relating to examination concessions with their college.
The Oxford University Disability Office website offers help and advice about study support and special examination arrangements for students.
