Prospective Students
MSc/MPhil
The Nissan Institute operates a masters programme which combines research methods, courses about Japan and Japanese language courses. The masters programme includes language courses however we do not teach a beginners course and expect all students to have a knowledge of Japanese at least equivalent to the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Proficiency Level N4 (if the test was taken in 2010 or later), or Level 3 (if taken in 2009 or before). We also welcome applicants from native speakers and those with native speaker equivalent skills.

DPhil
Each of the institute fellows is also a member of one of the university's discipline based departments - politics, sociology, anthropology, economics, history - and the Oriental Institute and teaches both undergraduate and post graduate students there. You cannot apply to the Nissan Institute for a place on a doctoral programme but instead enquire through one of the discipline departments or the Oriental Institute.
Undergraduate
There is no undergraduate programme associated with the Nissan Institute. You should enquire via the Oriental Institute.
