Alessandro joined the Bodleian Japanese Library on 1st February 2019. He manages the Bodleian Japanese Library at the Nissan Institute and oversees the collections of Japanese manuscripts and rare books.
Before arriving at Oxford, he worked at the British Library, Freer | Sackler (Smithsonian Institution), and taught at Haverford College.
Alessandro received a PhD from Cambridge, with a thesis on political satire in eighteenth-century Japan. His research area is Tokugawa-period literature, history of the book and material culture.
