Nissan Institute Building Access
Access to the building:
The main access route to the building is via the Winchester Road entrance. Our offices are entirely situated on the First Floor of the building. The Bodleian Japanese Library, Nissan Institute Lecture Theatre and Seminar Room are all on the Ground Floor.
Wheelchair access:
Wheelchair access to the building is via the Winchester Road entrance. The Winchester Road gates operate on a timer and keypad.
Once through the Winchester Road gates follow the path round to the right of the building through an opening in the small low black fence, along the side of the building then up the ramp to automatic doors on the ground floor.
The Winchester Road gates are programmed to automatically open and close at the following times:
Monday to Friday - Opens at 7.30 a.m. and Closes at 7.30 p.m.
Saturday - Opens at 7.30 a.m. and Closes at 1.00 p.m. (term time only).
Closed all day Sunday.
Parking:
There is no parking available at the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies. Street parking can be found in Winchester; Bevington and Canterbury Roads but it is limited to one or two hours at a time. Please read the signs carefully to avoid receiving a parking fine as the roads are regularly patrolled by traffic wardens.
Hearing support:
A Hearing Induction Loop is installed in the Bodleian Japanese Library and the Lecture Theatre.
Toilets:
The main public toilets are located in the Basement of the building. A toilet suitable for those with mobility problems and wheelchair users can be found on the ground floor. The staff toilet and shower room are on the first floor plus another public toilet.
Lift access:
The lift is on the ground floor and goes to the 1st floor only, but if you are the only person in the building, you are advised not to use it.
The Nissan Institute Flat:
Is located at the top of the building and access is via an external staircase. There is no lift access to the flat.
