Job Vacancy: Speechwriter and Coordinator for Press Affairs (Embassy of Japan)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 6:00pm (Lunch hour: 12:45 pm - 1:45pm) with the possibility of overtime work

Location: Embassy of Japan, London (Note: This position is office-based. Remote working is not available.)

Salary: TBD according to qualifications and experience

Job Details:
The Embassy of Japan seeks a highly qualified individual who can act as a speechwriter and provide support on public diplomacy and media-related activities.

Duties include:

  • Speechwriting, and drafting of official documents in English
  • Monitoring media coverage mainly related to Japan
  • Undertaking general administrative and supportive duties for the activities of the Public Diplomacy and Media Section/Japan Information and Cultural Centre (JICC)
  • Assisting with arrangements for VIP visits

Requirements:

  • Native-level proficiency in English (with an emphasis on advanced writing, particularly speechwriting)
  • Proficiency in Japanese at an elementary level or above (listening and speaking)
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and related applications
