Japan’s Grand Strategy in the 21st Century

This talk will take place at 13:00-14:00 GMT.

Abstract

In Asia, the creation of an international liberal order has finally begun. Since the 1980s, many Asian nations started to be fully industrialized and the wave of democratization followed. The Philippines, Republic of Korea, other ASEAN nations and Taiwan turned democratic. Prime Minister Abe’s vision for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific has been crafted for promoting the emerging new trend in Asia. China seems to be leaving the West. The commitment of the West to freedom, democracy, free trade and the rule of law is now vital. India must be reached out because of its democratic tradition and its strategic weight in the future.
